His unique hybrid electronic sound is inspired by classic soul and third coast hip-hop, paying tribute to the sounds of the past while seamlessly ushering in the sounds of the future“The easiest way to describe my music is, ‘Electronic music for people who don’t really like electronic music’,” Alex explains. “There’s hip-hop bass and beats, which keep it relevant. However, I’m taking it into new territory.” It’s also a style he’s been working towards perfecting for nearly a decade. The Houston native bounced from New Orleans to Austin to Temecula and eventually Big Bear. During 2011, he started composing music for online videos and commercials before relocating to Colorado and seriously pursuing the art as a career, going full-time in 2014. Along the way, he released a series of fan favorite EPs—Concrete College [2012], Far Into the Night [2013], Soap Box [2014], and Reflective Tangents [2016]. The latter yielded “Find the Love” [feat. Borahm Lee], which clocked over 1.3mil Spotify streams as the EP cumulatively tallied 3 million-plus. Emotionally charged and explosive live sets transformed Late Night Radio into a Denver sensationThrough nationwide tours with GRiZ, The Floozies, Gramatik, Lettuce, and BoomBox, Late Night Radio expedited his position at the forefront of electro-groove. His performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Electric Forest, Shambhala, Hulaween, and Camp Bisco have intoxicated attendees from all walks of life. Praised by tastemakers like Live For Live Music, EDM.com, EARMILK, and many more, it’s no secret that the visionary producer is crafting something unique. Having clocked in at #1 on HypeMachine’s popular remix chart with his official flip of Break Science’s “Anthemy Mason” and a #1 slot on Canadian College Radio Hip-Hop charts for his production work on Def3’s Small World album, his steeple-sized influence has transformed into something both atmospheric and quantifiable.

Recorded at Swingfingers Studios in Fort Collins (Colorado), the band brought a larger band than ever before, including drummer Darren Garvey of Elephant Revival, Vocalist Kim Dawson, Dobroist Todd Livingston, a horn section and more. The material reflects both the turbulent social rhythms of our current era and more timeless moments of joy, growth, and change. Passafire W/ Dubbest

Animas City Theatre PresentsPassafire with DubbestProof of vaccination (Physical card or picture of card on phone is accepted) or a negative PCR test with 72 hour time stamp needed to enter venuePassafire’s latest single, Keepin’ On, serves as a mission statement for the veteran rock-reggae outfit as they continue to forge ahead through their second decade of reimagining the boundaries of the current rock-reggae landscape. Unflinchingly optimistic, Keepin’ On shows off what Passafire does best: expertly blending the macro/political and the micro/personal. The rock-steady anthem weaves together Passafire’s take on global warming, economic uncertainty, and technology’s threat to personal privacy with the band’s dedication to survival, intent on thriving by any means necessary. “We are very grateful to be where we’re at with awesome fans that sustain and support us,” said Passafire’s bassist Will Kubley. “But every band wants to get to the next level” quickly pointed out lead guitarist/lead singer Ted Bowne. “We keep reaching new milestones and having new meaningful events, but we still have many ambitions we want to achieve. So we’ve got to keep going until we do.” Passafire is set to embark on their Keepin’ On Tour in spring of 2020, and will play both coasts and the Midwest, as well as several festival dates. Since forming in 2003, Passafire has released a total of six studio albums and boasts credits like producing with Paul Leary (Sublime, Pepper, U2, Slightly Stoopid), #1 albums on both the Billboard and iTunes Reggae charts, and sharing stages with rock-reggae OGs 311 and Pepper, and legends Toots & the Maytals, the Wailers, and John Brown’s Body, who in the band’s early years, inspired them to explore reggae with a gritty edge. “We like to mix tight, clean reggae grooves with distorted guitar riffs” insisted Ted, “We’re ‘90s kids,” added Will, “we love rock, hip-hop and metal equally. It was always natural for us to straddle the line between genres.” Passafire’s name is a take-off on The Wailers’ classic Catch a Fire album and the band’s hypervigilance towards honoring the culture without appropriating it combined with their unwavering dedication to the expansion of their skills as musicians, producers and songwriters, has led the band to create a sound that stands out from their peers.

CYCLES W/ Andy and the Gents

Animas City Theatre PresentsCycles with Special Guest Andy and the GentsFriday December 10th$15/$20/18+Proof of vaccination (Physical card or picture of card on phone is accepted) or a negative PCR test with 72 hour time stamp needed to enter venueCycles epitomize the power-trio format with ripping guitar, fat bass grooves played out through furious slapping, and viciously dynamic drum beats flowing over intricate tempo changes. Each member wields a unique take on their instrument that when played together, forms a truly fresh and cohesive sound. Patrick Harvey commands the guitar with speed and precision reminiscent of Jimmy Herring while using his loop pedal virtually as its own instrument, a skill unique only to him. At the heart of the band lies Tucker McClung’s dominant slap-bass chops that captivates audiences and pumps the musical blood through the band. The recent addition of drummer, Luke Stone has brought new fire and life into the band. With swift chops, fierce fills and decisive tempo, Luke has only further intensified the already explosive sound that is Cycles. The current incarnation of the ever-developing sound of Cycles reveals itself today as a speeding freight train of sound and rhythm. Screaming peaks and balanced grooves find their way out of the chaos of a jam while samples ripped from the likes of Madonna, Lil Nas X and many more ring out and grab the unsuspecting audience by surprise, adding to the multicolored blend of sound filling a room and often standing out as comedic elements of the show. Drawing influence from artists such as Rage Against the Machine, J. Dilla, Primus, Weather Report, and many more, Cycles fuse an eclectic blend of genres to produce an original sound that has become harder and harder to find. Although only a few years old, Cycles have over 350 shows under their belt with tours extending across the entire U.S. A heavy touring schedule keeps them on their toes while providing the inspiration to continue to write and always strive to play better. Look out for their name soon on a festival schedule in your hands or a club marquee playing with your favorite bands. https://www.cyclestheband.com https://www.facebook.com/cyclesmusic1 https://www.instagram.com/cyclesmusic https://www.instagram.com/cyclesmusic https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTxiT_EFqTpgUvVnNy9rOig https://open.spotify.com/artist/3VqGpoIhVcMCzMmIDHXPDS https://soundcloud.com/cycles-4 https://music.apple.com/us/album/loads-of-fun/1110910395

Magic Beans with Profetic Calaveras, TICKETS AT THE DOOR

The Animas CIty Theatre PresentsMagic Beans & Profetic CalaverasSaturday November 20th18+ / $22 / $25Tickets available online at www.animascitytheatre.com / Paper tickets available at Animas Trading Company Proof of vaccination (Physical card or picture of card on phone is accepted) or a negative PCR test with 72 hour time stamp needed to enter venuehttps://www.magicbeansmusic.com https://www.facebook.com/themagicbeans https://www.instagram.com/themagicbeans https://twitter.com/themagicbeansMagic Beans Bio: Denver’s Magic Beans return April 30th, 2021 with their third studio album, Slice of Life, a 14 song documentation of a year spent away from the familiar confines of the road. When the pandemic hit, Magic Beans had dozens of shows cancelled, so they hopped into their studio in Denver, CO and started recording songs. Produced by Magic Beans – and Mastered by David Glasser (The Grateful Dead’s long time Mastering engineer) – Funk, soul, live electronica, and even bluegrass music find their way into this songbook from 4 band members that each bring their own flavor to the project. The different feels in the double record coexist harmoniously as the listener is slowly ramped up throughout the record. By the time you hit the second vinyl, the organic sounds of B3 organ and acoustic guitar give way to synths and drum sampling almost as if you’re descending into night. The inspiration for the title “Slice of Life” is just that. A random and unplanned snapshot of the band in this time and place, a self portrait done unknowingly. “Throughout our days as a traveling band, we’ve encountered many a situation that is unexplainably surreal in its abnormality, but at the same time indicative of the location, culture, and context we find ourselves. “A person partaking in an activity you didn’t know existed wearing an outfit you’ve only seen in a dream, or a collision of occurrences just rare and unusual enough that you think you’re living in a simulation just to be in that place, sounds of B3 organ and acoustic guitar give way to synths and drum sampling almost as if you’re descending into night. The band’s rule was to have fun making music and the record reflects that. Even the home-made and hand-cut collages for the album artwork were created by the Beans’ tour manager and collaborator, Austin Koontz. What you got here with “Slice of Life” is a good time and a reflection of Magic Beans love for creating art. As the world returns to some semblance of normal, and Magic Beans hop back onto the road these songs will feature prominently in the sets from night to night, but until then this album will serve as a small Slice of of the last year in the Life of Magic Beans.
