CYCLES W/ Andy and the Gents

Animas City Theatre PresentsCycles with Special Guest Andy and the GentsFriday December 10th$15/$20/18+Proof of vaccination (Physical card or picture of card on phone is accepted) or a negative PCR test with 72 hour time stamp needed to enter venueCycles epitomize the power-trio format with ripping guitar, fat bass grooves played out through furious slapping, and viciously dynamic drum beats flowing over intricate tempo changes. Each member wields a unique take on their instrument that when played together, forms a truly fresh and cohesive sound. Patrick Harvey commands the guitar with speed and precision reminiscent of Jimmy Herring while using his loop pedal virtually as its own instrument, a skill unique only to him. At the heart of the band lies Tucker McClung’s dominant slap-bass chops that captivates audiences and pumps the musical blood through the band. The recent addition of drummer, Luke Stone has brought new fire and life into the band. With swift chops, fierce fills and decisive tempo, Luke has only further intensified the already explosive sound that is Cycles. The current incarnation of the ever-developing sound of Cycles reveals itself today as a speeding freight train of sound and rhythm. Screaming peaks and balanced grooves find their way out of the chaos of a jam while samples ripped from the likes of Madonna, Lil Nas X and many more ring out and grab the unsuspecting audience by surprise, adding to the multicolored blend of sound filling a room and often standing out as comedic elements of the show. Drawing influence from artists such as Rage Against the Machine, J. Dilla, Primus, Weather Report, and many more, Cycles fuse an eclectic blend of genres to produce an original sound that has become harder and harder to find. Although only a few years old, Cycles have over 350 shows under their belt with tours extending across the entire U.S. A heavy touring schedule keeps them on their toes while providing the inspiration to continue to write and always strive to play better. Look out for their name soon on a festival schedule in your hands or a club marquee playing with your favorite bands. https://www.cyclestheband.com https://www.facebook.com/cyclesmusic1 https://www.instagram.com/cyclesmusic https://www.instagram.com/cyclesmusic https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTxiT_EFqTpgUvVnNy9rOig https://open.spotify.com/artist/3VqGpoIhVcMCzMmIDHXPDS https://soundcloud.com/cycles-4 https://music.apple.com/us/album/loads-of-fun/1110910395

Magic Beans with Profetic Calaveras, TICKETS AT THE DOOR

The Animas CIty Theatre PresentsMagic Beans & Profetic CalaverasSaturday November 20th18+ / $22 / $25Tickets available online at www.animascitytheatre.com / Paper tickets available at Animas Trading Company Proof of vaccination (Physical card or picture of card on phone is accepted) or a negative PCR test with 72 hour time stamp needed to enter venuehttps://www.magicbeansmusic.com https://www.facebook.com/themagicbeans https://www.instagram.com/themagicbeans https://twitter.com/themagicbeansMagic Beans Bio: Denver’s Magic Beans return April 30th, 2021 with their third studio album, Slice of Life, a 14 song documentation of a year spent away from the familiar confines of the road. When the pandemic hit, Magic Beans had dozens of shows cancelled, so they hopped into their studio in Denver, CO and started recording songs. Produced by Magic Beans – and Mastered by David Glasser (The Grateful Dead’s long time Mastering engineer) – Funk, soul, live electronica, and even bluegrass music find their way into this songbook from 4 band members that each bring their own flavor to the project. The different feels in the double record coexist harmoniously as the listener is slowly ramped up throughout the record. By the time you hit the second vinyl, the organic sounds of B3 organ and acoustic guitar give way to synths and drum sampling almost as if you’re descending into night. The inspiration for the title “Slice of Life” is just that. A random and unplanned snapshot of the band in this time and place, a self portrait done unknowingly. “Throughout our days as a traveling band, we’ve encountered many a situation that is unexplainably surreal in its abnormality, but at the same time indicative of the location, culture, and context we find ourselves. “A person partaking in an activity you didn’t know existed wearing an outfit you’ve only seen in a dream, or a collision of occurrences just rare and unusual enough that you think you’re living in a simulation just to be in that place, sounds of B3 organ and acoustic guitar give way to synths and drum sampling almost as if you’re descending into night. The band’s rule was to have fun making music and the record reflects that. Even the home-made and hand-cut collages for the album artwork were created by the Beans’ tour manager and collaborator, Austin Koontz. What you got here with “Slice of Life” is a good time and a reflection of Magic Beans love for creating art. As the world returns to some semblance of normal, and Magic Beans hop back onto the road these songs will feature prominently in the sets from night to night, but until then this album will serve as a small Slice of of the last year in the Life of Magic Beans.

Free testing is available at FLC and the Durango Fair Grounds Visit https://covidcheckcolorado.org for making an appointment. Our industry cannot survive another shut down so we thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding. Dirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues, swamptronica, and electro-twang.” It’s a sound informed by Dirtwire’s travels and performances around the globe, where East meets West and North joins South. From the favelas in Brazil, Femi Kuti’s Shrine in Lagos, Tokyo’s bluegrass clubs, Ayahuasca ceremonies in Central America, Gamelan performances in Bali, desert festivals in the Australian Outback, and the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s modernized new capital Astana, the band spreads its message by building bridges across musical cultures in their own unique way. Dirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern, including West African kamale ngonis, jaw harps, space fiddles, whamola basses, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. Hailing from the underground west coast electronic bass music scene Dirtwire finds itself at the forefront of experimental electronic music production mixing in their wide array of world instruments with sampled beats and 808’s. Dirtwire’s live shows are a communal psychedelic journey, which have been channeled into their latest full-length effort, Electric River.

If you would like a refund on your ticket email Michele Redding at [email protected] or visit Animas Trading company if you purchased a paper ticket Stillhouse Junkies is a one-of-a-kind creative project born out of the collective passions of three individuals with very different musical backgrounds. With chops and stylistic leanings ranging from classical to West African, blues, bluegrass, and swing, Fred Kosak, Alissa Wolf, and Cody Tinnin came together around a shared goal of bringing sounds and grooves to their fans that fall outside of easy genre distinctions. With all three band members trading lead vocal, songwriting, and arranging duties, Stillhouse Junkies paint with a rich tonal palette that pays homage to their musical heroes while forging a unique artistic path. Born out of a long-standing weekly residency at a local distillery in Durango, CO, Stillhouse Junkies have quickly become a staple of Colorado and the Four Corners region’s rich music scene, establishing a solid fan base through multi-hour performances that feature soaring group improvisations, novel re-imaginings of covers from the likes of Asia, Caleb Klauder, and Bill Withers, and intimate vocal-driven ballads. Through their strong writing and creative, intricate arranging, the Junkies have built up an eclectic multi-set catalogue of original music that reflects their diverse interests and creative inclinations. Their songs run the gamut of human emotion and experience: disenchantment with the pace of modern living, confronting adversity in its many forms, mortality and aging, and story songs that imagine reality from the perspective of a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition; a small-town bartender; a lonely miner; an imperiled cattle driver. They pay tribute to the remarkable diversity of both the Four Corners area of the Southwestern US and the country as a whole, probing below the surface of everyday life to find the themes that unite us all as Americans and citizens of the world. In November 2019, Stillhouse Junkies entered the studio in Austin, TX to record their third album, Calamity, an epic thematic collection of 12 original songs released on March 7th. This effort represented the culmination of over a year of constant writing, gigging, and rehearsing and was supported by a dizzying schedule of over 100 planned shows across the US and in the UK.Stillhouse Junkies are proud to have been 2018 and 2019 Telluride Band Contest finalists (3rd & 2nd place) and to have been selected for an Emerging Artist Showcase at both the 2019 Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival and 2020 IBMA World of Bluegrass.  https://www.facebook.com/stillhousejunkies/
