But it also never fails to remind us how hard-won that joy was and still is: not least in the tense, funky and explosive title track, with its declaration “My people, we’re still here.” “Mardi Gras Indian songs are inherently songs about freedom,” the band’s drummer Joe Gelini says. “And that struggle is as relevant today as it’s ever been.” Popmatters describes the band as “a grand gumbo of singing, intoxicating rhythms, and deep funk grooves that are impossible to resist.” —- “I’ve seen the future of New Orleans music and its name is Cha Wa.” – Paste “Powerful, relatable, vibrant.” – NPR All Things Considered “Cha Wa, with bass lines played on sousaphone plus trumpet and two trombones, bring the city’s brass band tradition to bear. Add sick jazz-funk guitar, and two frontmen in full-beaded holiday regalia, and the result was a portable Mardi Gras Dance Party!” – Rolling Stone “Cha Wa blends Mardi Gras Indian tradition and modern pop magic.” – No Depression https://www.chawaband.com https://www.facebook.com/ChaWaBand https://twitter.com/ChaWaBand https://open.spotify.com/artist/18OO8F6DbNshxJbZ5ugprO https://instagram.com/chawaband www.youtube.com/chawaband
Cash’d Out – “Next Best Thing to Johnny Cash “

Animas City Theatre PresentsCash’d Out – “Next Best Thing to Johnny Cash “Tickets on Sale 10:00am Monday June 21st at www.animascitytheatre.com21+Cash’d Out Bio: “Some people are impressionists. These guys leave an impression”. Says Bill Miller, owner of Johnny Cash.com about Cash’d Out, a San Diego based band that channels Johnny Cash in about as close a manner to the real thing as it gets. After thirteen years, traveling hundreds of thousands of miles on the road and winning over as many fans, fans who still continually tell the group how grateful they are that Cash’d Out so righteously carries the torch of the Johnny Cash Show. Besides music critics anointing Cash’d Out as “the next best thing to Johnny Cash”, their highlights have been many: W.S. Holland, Johnny Cash’s longtime drummer, has sat in with Cash’d Out; front man, Douglas Benson, has played Johnny’s cherry sunburst Guild guitar (courtesy of Mr. Miller); “Cindy Cash came to a show and was moved to give me a glass locket that was her father’s,” explains Benson; Longtime Johnny Cash manager Lou Robin has also been to several Cash’d Out shows and claimed that if he closed his eyes it was as if “going back in time.”; And most recently, an unforgettable evening performing the music of Johnny Cash with the San Diego Symphony as a special event for their Summer Pops Series. The band’s live shows respectfully reference the late, great Man in Black’s Sun Records and early Columbia era sound, combined with the energy of the classic multi-platinum live recordings from Folsom Prison and San Quentin. The group’s genuine love (and authentic recreation) of Johnny Cash’s music and its universal appeal fans of all ages and of virtually all musical genres makes each Cash’d Out show a must-see event. The very roots of traditional acoustic music seem to sprout from the dirt, shaking their dust into the winds of change, to be breathed in and become the soul of musicians who craft their songs here. Such is the music of Wood Belly, a musical collective of Chris Weist (mandolin), Tom Knowlton (guitar), Chris Zink (dobro), Aaron McCloskey (banjo) and Taylor Shuck (bass). A Wood Belly song has its own lyrical persona and masterful arrangement; rooted in bluegrass tradition and planted solidly in contemporary innovation. The band has been garnering attention since the release of their 2018 debut album Solid Ground, which was followed by a win at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition (earning them a main stage performance slot at the 2019 festival), as well as an IBMA Momentum Band of the Year nomination. Wood Belly released it’s second album, Man on the Radio in January of 2020 capping an impressive stretch of writing and releases. The new 13-track collection was recorded at Swingfingers Studio in Fort Collins, CO with Grammy winning producer Sally Van Meter and engineer Aaron Youngberg, and features special guest fiddler Jeremy Garrett of The Infamous Stringdusters on several tracks.https://www.woodbellymusic.comhttps://www.facebook.com/WoodBellyhttps://www.youtube.com/woodbelly

Paul “Bubba” Iudice (acoustic guitar) and Erik Nordstrom (telecaster) have been collaborating since 2006, dusting off some old songs while creating new music about drinking, driving, friends that have passed away, love, heartbreak, the good life, and the not-so-good life. Kelly Rogers adds lap-steel to the mix. Jim Belcher lays down the bass, and David Sachs provides tasty drum licks. Jim and Dave have been part of the Durango music scene for quite some time, and we are honored that they joined the band in the spring of 2019. Founded in 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Hash Cabbage has an eclectic sound with a variety of influences from southern rock, improvisational jazz, reggae, funk, outlaw country all the way to surreal psychedelia. Rooted in both rock improv and traditional singer/songwriter structure, Hash Cabbage proudly admits that it doesn’t fully fall into any particular subgenre and skates on the edges of many. Hash Cabbage released its second full length album in April, 2021, entitled “The Gospel According to Hash Cabbage”.~~~ www.hashcabbage.com “What’s this? Hash what now? Are these guys referring to a hash made out of cabbage or profits made off of selling hash? No matter.
